Amazing tool for searching and monitoring and examining large amount of data.
What do you like best about the product?
Great tool for searching and monitoring data like system logs and other big data. Also unable alerting and reporting. We can create customize dashboards for monitoring. And setup alerts to notify anomalies in the system. Overall a great tool. Does it's job efficiently and effectively.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall a great tool but cost can be reduced for large volumes of data. Dashboards are effective but could be more interactive. Search can be complex at times but it does it's job. Overall I like the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my company, we are using Splunk for monitoring and analyzing system issues and system performance. We also use dashboards for validation and time of production releases.

Splunk data help us resolving major outage, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, correlation etc

The inability to easily share splunk data with other tools.

Aggregate event data into ITSI as an alert console and provide data for troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis/problem mitigation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
While expensive to index large amounts of data, the ability to capture log data and review it where you might not have access to the physical server is crucial for troubleshooting.

What do you like best about the product?
The possibility of creating fast parsing rules on custom logs and start analyze the data as soon as possible in a friendly and easy-to-use graphic user interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even if Splunk is a very powerful tool, it comes at a pretty bitter cost. If there is not enough budget, this is not a platform that you'll look after. There are a few open source solutions that can accommodate simple use-cases using less money.

You can search and monitor almost any type of data you need.

Great monitoring tool for performance improvement
What do you like best about the product?
Splunk is an enterprise performance monitoring tool to analyze the system logs. The best part of it is to give the detailed description of errs/exceptions from logs
What do you dislike about the product?
Connecting to Splunk from the other tools is a bit complex though it monitors the whole enterprise wide app logs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We usually use Splunk to pinpoint the errs/exceptions from our cloud env. With this tool, we get the issues on the specific POD to check and correct the POD configuration.

splunk has great user interface and easy to understand documentation for implementing cluster level data sources and monitoring then in form of triggered events and it has great visulaization option to create real time and timely evet based reports

while most of the features are impressive, they can concentrate on ease of logic building in next releases
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Splunk we can solve complex business problems on any enterprsie server setup mostly in domains like Health care software holdings Event Based triggers and reports would be really helpful both at app level and infra level

The pricing of Splunk is a little high. Except costing there are no complaints from my side.

Splunk Enterprise has solved the central problem of log analysis. Using Splunk, I can easily monitor the system logs and can extract much important information. Using Splunk, issues of real-time alerting are being solved. The integration with different products help us a lot.

Splunk Enterprise is one of the best analytics tools. One can easily ingest the data and view it on the dashboard. Splunk provides the best security. Splunk provide some amount of ingestion free. It is worth a try!!

This is best tool to search, monitor the system generated data. It actually visualise the data generated every moments. It helps us to monitor the data just by seeing logs in proper categorised manner.
The best part I like about Splunk is, it is best searching tool. In my current project, we use splunk the analyse the daily logs with different categories according to the requirements.
It helps us in troubleshooting the issue which requires data to analyse in quick and simplified way.

What do you dislike about the product?
In my current organization, as per the configuration we have, I am not able to find the error logs requested on reverse proxy servers.
Here in the project, we are having more than 300 servers and all the monitored and analysed by splunk only but few days ago, while troubleshooting session, I was not able to get the error logs observed on reverse proxy we have.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As the wrote above, while troubleshooting session I was not able to find the error log files through splunk tool. So to get such data, I had to go to server by logging through putty(we have better options as well) and the get the logs under the configured path.
We troubleshooted in this way.
Apart of this, there are various and easy way to get the data from splunk. It visualise every data coming from. It actually helps in tracing thr request getting generated every moment.
