Overview
Dell PowerProtect DD Management Center (DDMC) dashboard comprised of resource management, monitoring and reporting center can be utilized with Dell PowerProtect DD Virtual Edition (DDVE) in AWS. Customers will be able to gain aggregated management for multiple systems, manage capacity and replication, and monitor the health and status resource of their DDVE instance directly in the cloud. DDMC further enhances efficiency by providing a single point of manageability solution to manage Data Domain appliances on-prem, remote sites or in any cloud. This hybrid management capability further reduces TCO as a free download without any license.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Please use the "CloudFormation" option in the drop down list to deploy the DDMC instance with an automated deployment process which will automatically provision the necessary EBS Volumes with the appropriate instance type.
- The CloudFormation option may be used to deploy new instances of Data Domain Management Center.
- CloudFormation deployment will automatically provisions the recommended local metadata storage.
- Plan to deploy the DDMC on a private subnet.
If you select the AMI option, you will deploy the EC2 instance with DDMC and will have to provision and attach the metadata disks manually
To upgrade an existing instance of DDMC to this version, go to support.emc.com and download the rpm for DDMC 7.10.0.0.
The RPM file can be applied to your existing instance of DDMC in AWS as an upgrade.
-Manual deployment and storage provisioning is recommended before booting the DDMC. -Plan to deploy the DDMC on a private subnet. -Configure storage devices before booting the AMI for the first time: -DDMC requires a 200 GiB volume using EBS GP2 storage, using /dev/sdb device. -Launch your DDMC Instance
