Ubuntu is the modern, open source operating system on Linux for the enterprise server, desktop, cloud, and IoT. It is s a Linux distribution derived from Debian and composed mostly of free and open-source software.
Exceptions to the CIS Benchmark: "Ensure root password is set" - the root password should be set by the end user.

Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
After starting an instance from the AMI, the OS can be accessed through SSH using the username 'ubuntu' and the key created during instance creation. The user has root privileges through sudo.
