This AMI contains a Jenkins installation on Hardened Rocky Linux 9 system.
The Rocky Linux system on which Jenkins is installed, is tailored to meet the stringent security requirements outlined by the Center for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmarks. This AMI is designed to provide a secure foundation for your cloud environments, ensuring that your systems are protected against common vulnerabilities and attacks.
Jenkins can act as a standalone server or cluster of nodes that allow supporting all kinds of projects, from small and simple, to large and complex. Jenkins is agnostic of the application stack, and can support all kinds of build (Java, Python, C++, etc.).
Jenkins can be easily set up and managed through its web interface.
Through the use of plugins, the functionality of Jenkins can be extended to support all kinds of specific build or deployment use cases, making the process of setting up the DevOps environment for projects even easier.
Exceptions to the CIS Benchmark: "Ensure root password is set" - the root password should be set by the end user

Usage instructions
-
Launch the Instance: First, create an EC2 instance using this AMI. Be sure to add inbound rules for ports 22 (SSH) and 8080 (Jenkins) in your security group.
-
Access Jenkins Setup page: Once the instance is running, open your browser and navigate to http://<instance_ip>:8080 to start the initial Jenkins configuration. You'll be guided through setup steps on this page, including obtaining the initial password.
-
Retrieve the Jenkins Password: As part of the setup, you'll need to SSH into your instance to retrieve the initial Jenkins password. This password is generated randomly during the instance startup. The specific file location for the password will be shown on the initial configuration page.
-
SSH into the Instance: To access your instance, connect via SSH with the following command: ssh -i /path/to/your/private-key.pem rocky@<instance_ip>
-
Complete Configuration: After completing the initial setup, you are ready to start using Jenkins as needed.
