Overview
This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for support. Headscale is a self-hosted, open-source alternative to the Tailscale coordination server. Tailscale itself is a VPN service built on WireGuard, offering a secure, easy-to-use mesh network for private communication. Headscale enables you to set up and manage Tailscale-like networks on your own infrastructure, offering complete control over user authentication, authorization, and routing. The software is useful for setting up a personal VPN, ensuring that devices can securely connect to each other across different networks. Headscale acts as the server that coordinates the peers, making it easier to create a secure and private network without relying on third-party services. This solution is ideal for those who want to maintain full control over their network and avoid centralized cloud-based coordination.
Highlights
- Headscale is fully open-source, enabling complete control and customization.
- You can run your own server, ensuring privacy and independence from third-party services.
- Built on WireGuard for secure and fast communication.
