Overview
Tamr is a new approach to data integration that uses supervised machine learning to make it faster and easier to unify large numbers of heterogeneous sources. Unlike traditional rules-centric approaches common in ETL and MDM products, Tamr enables data engineers to leverage machine learning (enriched by the expertise of humans who best understand the data and supplemented by rules where appropriate) to rapidly construct a probabilistic data unification model that combines, masters, and classifies data from myriad siloed sources. The result is a new class of data assets that deliver a unified view of key entities (e.g. customers, products, suppliers, parts, etc.) and power breakthrough analytic insights and operational improvements.
Highlights
- Schema mapping: align disparate data sources to a unified schema, guided by recommended mappings powered by machine learning.
- Mastering: match, de-duplicate and create 'golden records' for mastered views of any entity through a supervised machine learning approach
- Classification: map records to a taxonomy of your choice using machine learning to simplify and accelerate analytics (e.g. spend classification, product sales categorization)

Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
