Overview
Grafana is a multi-platform analytics and interactive visualization platform. It is designed to provide context-rich visualization, primarily through charts, but it also supports other methods of presenting data thanks to its pluggable panel architecture. Each control panel is tailored and customized to suit the needs of a specific software development project.
One of the reasons for Grafana's popularity among developers is its elegant visualizations are called dashboards, and developers can create their own dashboards for various data sources. It supports heatmaps, graphs, tables, and free text panel types.
Prometheus's main features are:
-Multiple modes of graphing and dashboarding support -PromQL, a flexible query language to leverage this dimensionality -No reliance on distributed storage; single server nodes are autonomous -Time-series collection happens via a pull model over HTTP -Pushing time series is supported via an intermediary gateway -A multi-dimensional data model with time series data identified by metric name and key/value pairs -Targets are discovered via service discovery or static configuration
Highlights
- Dashboard templates help you create dashboards that can be reused for different purposes and shared across teams in your organization.
- Grafana lets you create scripts for just about anything and take control of a large number of dashboards.
- Graph marker is useful for correlating data in case something goes wrong. Create annotations manually or retrieve data from any data source.
