WAMP is an acronym for Windows, Apache, MySQL, and PHP, a software stack that enables you to install Apache, MySQL, and PHP altogether by installing WAMP. Each of these letters represents something given below:
W in WAMP is for Windows. A is for Apache server that enables you to serve web pages. It means that whenever you request a page seen by you, it is Apache that grants the request over HTTP and shows you the site. M stands for MySQL, which acts as a Database Management System for your server. It is used for storing all the relevant information, such as your content of the site, user profiles and a lot more. P is for PHP, a programming language used to write WordPress site. It is considered a glue for this entire software stack. It runs in conjunction with Apache and communicates with MySQL.
WAMP serves as a virtual server on your computer. This way, it enables you to test all the features of the hosting platform without any consequences. It is because it is localized on your machine, and it is not connected to the web.
WampServer is a Web development platform on Windows that allows you to create dynamic Web applications. WampServer automatically installs everything you need to intuitively develop Web applications. You will be able to tune your server without even touching its setting files.
