Overview
Vertica free community edition is an analytical database for fast analytics at scale. Vertica offers fast data loading and advanced SQL and Python analytics, including geospatial, time-series, machine learning and the capability to scale to handle huge data analytics projects. Vertica can perform as both an ACID compliant database, leveraging its own optimized and compressed format, or as a query engine, able to analyze data lake file formats like parquet, ORC and other formats with speed and concurrency. Use Vertica as the engine behind your favorite visualization/BI tool. Vertica will make PowerBI, Tableau, MicroStrategy and many others faster and more scalable. Or use Vertica to hande giant workloads behind your Jupyter notebooks. The community edition is free to use for non-commercial projects on a three-node cluster. All Vertica deployments include an embedded one terabyte license that does not expire. For increase capacity, commercial and academic use options, please visit https://www.vertica.com/contact-us .
Highlights
- Analyze All of Your Data - No longer move data or settle for siloed views. Access a single platform for data warehouse modernization and data lake exploration.
- Achieve Scale and Performance - Fear of growing data volumes and users is a thing of the past. Complex questions get responses quickly, while scaling data and users linearly.
- Free to use - Use the free community edition for non-commercial use and proof-of-concepts that can fit into the 1 Terabyte limit. When you're ready, scale up to multi-node deployments that can scale to handle petabytes of data with speed and concurrency.

Management Console with 3-node Eon Cluster
Use this Deployment Option to provision three EC2 instances configured as a 3-node Vertica Eon Mode cluster as well as a fourth EC2 instance configured with Vertica's Management Console. All four EC2 instances will be provisioned into a new VPC and subnet which will take several minutes. Once the CloudFormation template of this Deployment Option completes, find a link to the Management Console in the Outputs tab. Vertica's Management Console provides a web-based graphical interface which helps users easily provision and manage a Vertica cluster on AWS. Use the Management Console as needed to monitor, manage and interact with your cluster(s) and database(s).
CloudFormation Template (CFT)
AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."
