Gensim is an open source library in python which is used in unsupervised topic modelling and natural language processing. It is designed to extract semantic topics from documents. It can handle large text collections. Hence it makes it different from other machine learning software packages which target memory processing. Gensim also provides efficient multicore implementations for various algorithms to increase processing speed.
Gensim is a Python library for topic modelling, document indexing and similarity retrieval with large corpora. Target audience is the natural language processing (NLP) and information retrieval (IR) community.

To verify the Gensim installation, follow the commands below:
a) To see the list of directories: ls b) Gensim is installed in the virtual environment "Gensim_env" c) To activate the virtual environment "Gensim_env": source Gensim_env/bin/activate d) To check the installed version of Gensim: pip show gensim or python3 -m pip show gensim e) To check the installed version of scipy: pip show scipy or python3 -m pip show scipy f) To check the installed version of numpy: pip show numpy or python3 -m pip show numpy g) Open a Python shell by typing python3. Once the Python shell is open, type the following commands:
- import gensim
- gensim.version : To check the installed version of gensim
h) To come out of the virtual environment: deactivate

- An Internet Connection is required in order for this product to function as expected.
