Qualys security scans are very low-impact -- meticulously designed to not interfere with your operations -- and are safe to run at any time. They stop short of activating any found vulnerabilities. Also, the type of scan we use has been fully pre-authorized by AWS, futher lowering your risk and avoiding lengthy waits for custom security scan approvals.

Scans of both public and private VPC hosts are supported.

Public perimeter scans are simple: just tell us the publically-accessible IP addresses to scan and the start time. Sit back and receive your scan results.

Private VPC scans need only two simple configuration changes in your AWS account, powered by a simple Cloudformation script we provide:

1. The script creates a read-only Role for Qualys to list your EC2 instances via AWS APIs
2. You accept a peering request from our EC2 Qualys scanner's VPC to your VPC
3. You tell us which hosts to scan and when to start.

We are confident that this Qualys scan will not interfere with your normal operations. Note that this is not a guarantee, however, and we can discuss best practices to mitigate risk during the scan.
