Overview
This is an all new Oracle Linux Server version 8.6 AMI with ENA Support Enabled on Oracle Unbreakable Kernel (OUK) version 5.4. Oracle Linux Server is fully compatible with Redhat release, but due to OUK higher kernel and dependencies, you'll prefer the native pre-configured rpm repositories. This AMI is intended for new Linux server instances and the recommended migration target for TLC's CentOS 6, 7 and 8 hosted server projects, which, due to AWS CVE audits, can no longer be offered by TLC on Marketplace. This AMI runs as a Hardware Virtualized Machine (HVM), 64bit, with ec2-user SELinux context. This kernel runs higher than what you can bring in via image-import, which gives this AMI a competitive edge. This image uses Oracle Linux Server minimal install, which can operate well on nano instance types; yet provides the most flexibility in terms of scaling instance types and packages to fit your needs. Unlike other pricing models, TLC charges one super-low hourly or yearly rate on any size instance. Optional Oracle Enterprise OEL support, not included, is among the best in the business. This is a repackaged software product wherein additional charges apply for system updates and product development. This AMI uses IMDSV2 'optional' only. Setting IMDSV2 'required' will cause password and SSH key setup to fail, preventing access.
