Overview
Openfire is an instant messaging (IM) and group chat server for the Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP). It is very easy to use, configurable, customizable, and extensible. It is based on the XMPP (Jabber) protocol and can support more than 50,000 concurrent users.
Additionally, Openfire has strong support for plugins and customized builds. There are numerous plugins available for immediate download and installation via the admin console, and many installations have bespoke plugins.
