General FAQs

  • Private Marketplace enables administrators to create customized digital catalogs of authorized products from AWS Marketplace. Administrators can choose from thousands of listings in AWS Marketplace to create lists of approved products for users to purchase. Users governed by the Private Marketplace catalogs are limited to subscribing to only the products approved by the administrators in the Private Marketplace.

  • Administrators looking to empower their users with catalogs of pre-vetted AWS Marketplace products should use Private Marketplace. Users can find, buy, and deploy AWS Marketplace products that adhere to the organization’s policies. Private Marketplace enables legal, procurement, and security administrators to oversee what products are approved to be used for cloud-based workloads.

  • Private Marketplace allows for approval of AWS Marketplace products. Products can have multiple offers, including private offers. To enable users to subscribe to private offers, administrators must approve products that have a private offer extended to it. For private products, sellers must extend the product to the administrator so it can be added into the Private Marketplace.   • You can use the AWS Marketplace website, AWS Command Line Interface ("CLIs") or APIs to manage your Private Marketplace catalogs. All venues enable you to create new Private Marketplace catalogs, view approved software products, add and remove approved products, and update settings as well as branding for your Private Marketplace catalogs. Note that software request functionality is limited to the AWS Marketplace website; however, email notifications can be used to trigger events within external systems. Please refer to the AWS Documentation for additional information.

  • Private Marketplace and AWS Service Catalog are complementary and can be used at different points of the procurement and deployment process. Private Marketplace governs what software users can procure from third parties. AWS Service Catalog controls what users deploy, which includes approved configurations and instance sizes from both third parties and solutions built in-house. Additionally, an integration between AWS Marketplace and AWS Service Catalog enables you to launch products from AWS Marketplace directly into AWS Service Catalog.    Permissions FAQs

  • You can use a series of AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies to control which users can perform which actions in Private Marketplace. This includes which users can create additional Private Marketplace catalogs, add products, remove products, purchase products, modify the look and feel, or enable and disable Private Marketplace. You can use AWS managed policies to assign permissions for common personas or use IAM to write custom policies for more control.   • After you enable Private Marketplace, you can create Private Marketplace catalogs for your AWS Organizations and the set of accounts within your organization. You can create and manage multiple Private Marketplace catalogs for the various sets of accounts within your organization. Channel Partners FAQs

  • Private Marketplace allows you to curate catalogs of approved AWS Marketplace products for your customer’s needs. You can customize the look and feel of the AWS Marketplace website to indicate to customers that they are working in an experience created for them.

     

  • Private Marketplace helps your customers manage their AWS Marketplace subscriptions by ensuring that only product vetted are available for users to subscribe to. You can create different catalogs of approved products for the customers within your AWS organization or within their AWS organization for their various use cases. Using AWS Marketplace APIs for Private Marketplace you can help your customers integrate with their existing systems to help streamline their product approvals within AWS Marketplace.

  • You or your customers can administer Private Marketplace catalogs. Using a series of AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies, you can customize who can perform which actions in Private Marketplace. You can assign AWS managed policies for your customers or use IAM to write custom policies for more control.

  • No. Private Marketplaces does not change your invoice, billing or payments within AWS.

  • Private Marketplace is a feature that partners participating in channel programs, including Solution Provider Private Offers (“SPPO”) program and Channel Provider Private Offers (“CPPO”) program. Private Marketplace can use in conjunction you’re your channel programs to provide curate experiences AWS Marketplace products to customers. Partners do not need to be enrolled in SPPO or CPPO programs to use Private Marketplace. Learn more about channel programs and features.

  • Discovery API is a feature that allows you to create a custom AWS Marketplace experience within your venue, such as website or portal, for your customers. Discovery API can be used for search customization, while Private Marketplace enables procurement customization. Discovery API works in conjunction with AWS Marketplace APIs for Private Marketplace by enabling you to find the AWS Marketplace you want to manage with your Private Marketplace catalogs.
