Velocity Technology Solutions Helps Change Healthcare Migrate SAP and Oracle Workloads to AWS

Velocity recently helped Change Healthcare with their IT needs and workload migration to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Background

The deadline to move to SAP S/4HANA was extended to 2027, and many companies are in the early stages of evaluating how and when to make the upgrade. For many organizations, the decision to adopt the cloud for their enterprise deployments is in the rearview mirror.

The partnership between AWS and SAP goes back more than a decade. Not only is SAP one of AWS’s largest customers, but more than 5,000 customers run SAP on AWS. More than half of those businesses are using SAP HANA-based solutions.

AWS offers a large inventory of SAP-certified instances readily available for both production and non-production usage, global infrastructure, scalability, and security. A move to AWS helps customers kick-start innovation by eliminating costly, resource-heavy physical infrastructure upgrades.

Through mergers and acquisitions, Change Healthcare acquired a new business segment late in 2017. This acquisition, and the pressing upgrade deadline, required Change Healthcare to consolidate data centers and integrate multiple enterprise workloads, including SAP and Oracle.

All of this needed to happen for Change Healthcare while migrating to the cloud and seamlessly connecting the technologies of two combining companies.

Velocity’s Next Smart Solution

Velocity has broad expertise working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications across industries, such as manufacturing, healthcare, services, and more.

Leveraging AWS services, Velocity developed architecture for running a multi-ERP cloud-managed solution while simplifying data center consolidation with multiple mission-critical enterprise workloads.

Velocity led Change Healthcare through an SAP and Oracle migration to AWS within 12 months, migrating a total of 185 systems. The new IT infrastructure allowed Change Healthcare to be “digital enterprise” ready, and turnaround times have been reduced from weeks to minutes.
