Upskill your team for generative AI projects with AWS Training
As organizations move from dabbling in generative artificial intelligence (AI) to building customer-facing applications, having a skilled team is crucial for project success. You can leverage AWS Training courses and certification to upskill your team, ensuring they are prepared for your next generative AI project.
Imagine you are staffing a generative AI project with defined business outcomes, stakeholders, and AWS services. However, you discover your team lacks the necessary skills, and the understanding of generative AI varies among team members and stakeholders. Fortunately, AWS offers tailored training courses and learning plans for business decision makers, data specialists, and developers to address this skills gap.
Additionally, with an AWS Skill Builder Team subscription you will have visibility into skills progress across your team.
Develop generative AI fluency among team members
Start by ensuring a common understanding of generative AI and its terminology across your team. Enroll your project stakeholders in the following courses to develop basic AI fluency: Introduction to Generative AI – Art of the Possible and Planning a Generative AI Project. For time-constrained stakeholders, take advantage of the 50-minute Generative AI for Executives video introduction.
Upskill technical staff to build generative AI applications
Next, identify the technical roles that are relevant to your project. Depending on the project requirements, you will need software developers, architects, IT administrators, and data specialists.
An important step in building generative AI applications is model selection. A data scientist or an ML engineer can help with this step. Before making the model decision, they can take Amazon Bedrock Getting Started and Amazon SageMaker JumpStart Foundations courses to learn about Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker JumpStart and the foundation models that are available with these services. They will not need additional training, if the decision is to use a pretrained model available with either one of these services.
However, if they decide to fine-tune a language model available on Amazon SageMaker JumpStart or build a model from scratch, they can enroll in the Generative AI Learning Plan for Model Builders. This learning plan includes three courses that help with fine-tuning open-source models. In addition to Amazon SageMaker JumpStart Foundations, the learning plan includes a course on the Foundations of Prompt Engineering and Customizing and Evaluating LLMs using Amazon SageMaker JumpStart. The other course in the learning plan, Building Language Models on AWS, focuses on building language models from the ground up using advanced features such as Amazon SageMaker HyperPod and AWS silicon to speed up model training and inference.
To build applications using the selected model, software developers will need an understanding of the generative AI use cases, prompt engineering, Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases, Amazon Bedrock Agents, and Amazon Bedrock Guardrails. They can enroll in the Generative AI Learning Plan for Developers. This learning plan includes the generative AI fluency courses mentioned above. In addition, the learning plan includes the following three courses: Amazon Bedrock Getting Started, Foundations of Prompt Engineering, and Building Generative AI Applications using Amazon Bedrock.
If your organization has a subscription to Amazon Q Developer, the developers can take the Amazon Q Developer Getting Started course available in this learning plan as well. Amazon Q Developer is the most capable generative AI-powered assistant for software development. If you plan to use one or more Amazon Q family of products in your project, software developers, data engineers, IT administrators and operations staff will benefit from enrolling in the Amazon Q – Generative AI-powered Assistant Learning Plan. This learning plan consists of four courses: Amazon Q Introduction, Amazon Q Developer Getting Started, Amazon Q Business Getting Started, and Generative BI with Amazon Q in Quicksight – Getting Started. Amazon Q Business is a generative AI-powered assistant that can answer questions, provide summaries, generate content, and securely complete tasks based on data and information in your enterprise systems. With Amazon Q in QuickSight, customers get a generative, business intelligence (BI) assistant that allows business analysts to use natural language to build BI dashboards in minutes and easily build visualizations and complex calculations.
Explore other learning modalities to meet training needs
In addition to the learning plans and the courses mentioned above, your team can explore our many game-based learning options and AWS SimuLearn to meet your generative AI learning needs. AWS SimuLearn is a unique generative AI-powered learning simulation to help you build AWS Cloud and problem-solving skills through a realistic customer conversation.
Take your learning further by getting certified
Explore two new certifications from AWS: AWS Certified AI Practitioner, which is ideal for line-of-business professionals as well as IT and cloud pros, to showcase knowledge in AI, ML, and generative AI concepts and use cases; and, AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer – Associate for IT and cloud professionals to validate technical ability in implementing ML workloads in production and operationalizing them. Plus, when you earn either of these new AWS Certifications on or before February 15, 2025, you will receive a limited-edition Early Adopter badge in addition to your certification badge!
