Earlier this month, for the first time, the IMAGINE: Nonprofit conference was hosted in Australia in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. This event brought together leaders, technologists, and mission-driven innovators in the nonprofit sector to learn, connect, and inspire. Over the three days, attendees explored the ways technology helps nonprofits make a positive impact around the world. In April 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, while frontline workers were under immense pressure, three experienced live event professionals wanted to thank all of the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) workers and paid care workers. They combined their extensive experience and knowledge to launch the not-for-profit charity Concerts for Carers, whose mission is to promote the mental health and well-being of all NHS workers and paid caregivers and to provide them with free tickets to live events in the UK as an ongoing gesture of thanks. AWS launched new tiered support for the AWS Nonprofit Credit Program. The AWS Nonprofit Credit Program works with TechSoup to provide 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations such as charities, libraries, and museums, across the globe with access to AWS Promotional Credit. Promotional credit enables organizations of all sizes to scale their operations, reduce costs, and deliver more impact on their mission and the communities they serve. With this update to the program, the value of promotional credit an organization can receive will be based on the size of their annual operations budgets, extending opportunities for nonprofits of all sizes to accelerate their missions with cloud technology.

The 2023 IMAGINE: Nonprofit conference brought together hundreds of nonprofit leaders, technologists, and innovators to learn and share how AWS Cloud technology can drive a positive impact for people and the planet. Chelsea Clinton, author, advocate, and vice chair of the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Health Access Initiative, spoke with Francessca Vasquez, AWS vice president of technology and customer solutions, about their passions for data and leadership during a fireside chat. SibsForever is a nonprofit created to support and provide a safe community for people who have lived through the loss of a sibling. SibsForever.org is a progressive web application that runs on AWS and functions as an online memory book for surviving siblings. By sharing their stories and experiences, the SibsForever.org community has become a safe and supportive space for surviving siblings. ONE is a global movement to end extreme poverty and preventable disease by 2030. Advocacy is about taking action in real time, so we need to reach people wherever they are. In Africa, that means using mobile devices. To help us reach audiences across Africa, we launched a mobile chatbot built on AWS.

Moneythink is an education technology nonprofit providing big solutions to help with college affordability, accessibility, and student loan debt. We built DecidED, a web app that runs on AWS and provides students across the country with guidance and support to understand financial aid options and budgeting for college costs. Our work gives students the cost transparency necessary to make clear decisions about their futures, and is especially beneficial for historically marginalized students, as they often lack resources due to institutionally imposed barriers.

At The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (Guide Dogs), we provide a variety of services and support to anyone affected by sight loss, their friends, and their family. Our mission is to give them access to information and support to make a positive impact on their well-being, self-confidence, self-esteem and ability to function with loss of sight. Voice assistants powered by AWS allow our organization to support our communities and enrich their quality of life.
