AWS Achieves Full Empanelment for the Delivery of Cloud services by India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology

AWS announced that Amazon Internet Services Private Limited (AISPL), an Indian subsidiary of the Amazon Group, which undertakes the resale and marketing of AWS Cloud services in India, has achieved full Cloud Service Provider (CSP) empanelment, and successfully completed the STQC (Standardization Testing and Quality Certification) audit from the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for cloud services delivered from the AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) Region.

With this certification, AISPL joins a list of approved providers that meet pre-defined government standards of quality, availability, and security. With 52 global security certifications, attestations, assurance programs, and quality audits already achieved, such as ISO 9001, SOC1, SOC2, SOC3, and more, AWS is the first global cloud service provider to earn this status in India.

Government organizations and nationalized banks across India can now increase agility and speed innovation with AWS’s flexible and highly secure pay-as-you-go cloud services.

Since the launch of AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) Region in June 2016, more than 120,000 active customers, including Tata Motors, NDTV, Lupin, Future Group, and Shoppers Stop, have adopted AWS Cloud for a broad range of applications such as e-governance applications, website hosting, big data analytics, mobile applications, e-commerce platforms, and mission-critical business applications such as SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft, among other use cases.

AWS public sector customers in India include Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), CSC e-Governance Services (set up by the Ministry of Electronics & IT), Gujarat Technical University, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.
