IGEL Disrupt Nashville 2023 recap
As a fast-follow to IGEL DISRUPT 2023 Munich, IGEL hosted IGEL DISRUPT 2023 Nashville, the organization’s first US-based in-person event since 2019. Most major players were represented at this exciting event, presenting in breakout sessions, and demonstrating recent innovations at their expo booths. This event was truly a celebration of the End User Computing (EUC) space.
If you are not familiar with IGEL, their services are designed to bridge the last-mile of virtual desktop interface (VDI) environments deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS), delivering a cost-effective, streamlined, secure user experience on remote endpoints. For more information, check out the Amazon WorkSpaces with IGEL solution brief or IGEL press release announcing support for Amazon WorkSpaces.
At this year’s event, Kevin Goodman, Director of Product Management for AWS End User Computing services, hosted a lively session focusing on enabling the modern digital workforce with new services like Amazon WorkSpaces Core. WorkSpaces Core makes it easy to re-host existing VDI environments or extend them to the AWS Cloud, and supports multiple leading third-party VDI solutions.
Speaking of WorkSpaces Core integration partners, at IGEL DISRUPT 2023 Nashville, we had numerous conversations with attendees about status of Workspot and VMware. In February, Workspot announced Cloud PCs powered by WorkSpaces Core. At this year’s event, we published a blog covering how to set up Workspot Cloud PCs and Amazon WorkSpaces Core. On the VMware front, we in September 2022 AWS launched VMware Horizon 8 on Amazon WorkSpaces Core and published a blog on extending VMware Horizon 8 to Amazon WorkSpaces Core.
The event wrapped with a magical moment. Mark Templeton (Chairman, Workspot; Former CEO, Citrix) on stage speaking about his vision for the EUC space in his famous presentation style. Inviting his wife and two Pomeranians on stage felt like being a part of the family. Such a warm and welcoming event!
