Disrupting your thinking on end-user computing

I love working on end-user computing. My group helps IT teams provide remote and hybrid workers with reliable access to the data and applications they need to do their jobs, while dealing with constraints on multiple fronts—ranging from controlling costs and staffing challenges to emerging security threats. Customers tell me all the time that traditional virtual desktop infrastructure makes responding to these constraints difficult. As a result, many organizations are leveraging cloud-based virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) from the Amazon WorkSpaces Family services and Amazon AppStream 2.0 in order to provide the agility, reliability, and security needed to solve for their constraints.

The AWS End User Computing (EUC) services portfolio includes a broad range of offerings where we focus on giving customers the lowest costs, the highest uptime, better security, and the biggest selection of technology supporting a wide range of end-user computing use cases. To back that up, IDC and Gartner have published their MarketScape and Magic Quadrants for DaaS, respectively, that highlight our flexibility, our global footprint, our highly configurable solutions, and our low-cost infrastructure. Throughout 2023, our portfolio expanded to include new offerings and capabilities like allowing customers to use Microsoft 365 licenses through a “bring your own license” (BYOL) model on Amazon WorkSpaces services, and providing a low-cost backup WorkSpaces instance with our multi-region resilience feature.

I’m thrilled to present breakout session EUC205 “Disrupting your thinking on end-user computing” on November 28, 2:00-3:00pm, in Mandalay Bay with my coworker Melissa Stein, Director for Product Management for AWS EUC services. In our session, we are going to introduce a new way for customers to merge low-cost end-user computing, with better security, and a simplified IT experience. We are also going to hear directly from industry leaders at Intuit and Genomics England, discussing their experiences using AWS EUC services to overcome their IT challenges.

Prior to AWS, Muneer worked on Amazon’s consumer websites where he owned availability and performance on Amazon.com, and Amazon’s international websites. Before Amazon, Muneer worked as a performance tester of MSN Messenger.
